In pictures: Pensioners and children celebrate 125 years at Anfield

Liverpool Football Club's 125th anniversary celebrations got under way today with a birthday party at Anfield.

Pupils from 21 local junior schools that are a part of the Red Neighbours programme joined LFC Foundation guests and Anfield Community Art members for a special event in the Main Stand of the club's home.

The children took part in a Q&A session with club ambassadors Robbie Fowler and Gary McAllister before getting involved in a dance competition hosted by mascot Mighty Red.

Anfield also played host to 200 pensioners from the local area, who enjoyed a celebratory three-course meal in The Beautiful Game lounge followed by singing, entertainment and close-up magic.
