The power of: The Liverpool captaincy

In the first of Standard Chartered's fascinating series of factors that make Liverpool FC so special, Steven Gerrard, Jürgen Klopp, John Barnes, Sami Hyypia and Jordan Henderson outline what it means to captain the Reds.

To celebrate LFC's 125th anniversary year, Standard Chartered is taking fans on a season-long journey through significant numbers in the club's history.

First up is the number eight - a shirt worn with such distinction by Gerrard during his time as skipper.

"It comes with a lot of responsibility. You have got to set the standard and it's always got to be high," says Gerrard, of leading Liverpool.

Former captains Hyypia and Barnes also discuss wearing the armband, as do the club's current manager and skipper, Klopp and Henderson.
