'The legends show us how it's done'

There can be few better finishers to learn from than Robbie Fowler and Ian Rush.

Harry Wilson has been privileged to work with both Liverpool legends during his rise through the Academy ranks – and, judging by the Welshman’s goal tally this season, their wisdom has obviously rubbed off.

The U23s captain continued his fine form by scoring twice for his team to inspire a comeback from two goals down to a 2-2 draw with Southampton at St Mary’s on Monday evening.

Wilson is a guest on the latest episode of ‘LFC Later’ on LFCTV tonight and explained why the advice of a host of club heroes is proving inspirational in Kirkby.

“It started when I was an U15,” he said. “We used to come in on weekdays from school.

“Ian Rush was the first one to come in and do a bit of finishing sessions with the attacking players. That’s when it all started.

“When I became an U18, you had the likes of Robbie Fowler, Steve McManaman and Rob Jones coming in and working with the players that play in their positions from when they were a player.

“It has been a massive help for the legends of past years to come in, give us a bit of advice and show us how it’s done.”

Wilson is joined on the show by former Reds midfielder Ray Houghton and darts star Dave Chisnall, as presenters Claire Rourke and Jason McAteer take a light-hearted look at the latest LFC events.
