The agreement follows two successful years of LFC and Challenger Sports delivering the LFC International Academy residential courses. Taking place each summer, the programme continues to grow in popularity and has attracted participants from around the world.
This year saw the biggest course to date with players from 50 countries visiting the UK to attend. In addition to the hugely popular Football Focus coaching experience and the English Language courses, which teach young learners how to lead others through English language activities, it also saw the introduction of a Junior Development Academy, which allows children between the ages of 10 and 12 to attend the residential camp and learn to play The Liverpool Way.
Next year is set to be even bigger again thanks to the introduction of further girls’ courses, a goalkeeper-specific offering and an advanced option for teams who wish to attend.
Dan White, head of Liverpool FC’s International Academy program, said: “Our residential soccer school has been hugely successful since it launched in the UK two years ago, and has created many fantastic opportunities for young players from around the world to improve their skills and be developed via our unique coaching system.
“We are absolutely delighted to be continuing our relationship with our partner Challenger Sports to provide opportunities for young players to visit the UK to be coached The Liverpool Way.”
Mum Melanie, whose daughter participated in the course, said: “I just want to say a huge thank you to everyone involved with the football camp. Jasmine had an incredible time - she didn’t stop talking about it all the way home.
“It has given her a huge confidence boost in respect to her social skills, football and overall fitness. She really enjoyed making new friends and said the quality of teaching and support from the coaching staff was superb.
“She loved that the training and classroom sessions emphasised the LFC values, which she completely engaged with. I think she is definitely an LFC fan now, to the delight of her step-dad.”
