Anfield checklist for fans attending Palace match

Liverpool FC is making the final preparations to welcome 10,000 supporters to Anfield for the last fixture of the 2020-21 season.

Many fans have not been to the stadium for more than 12 months and there have been important changes to the matchday experience.

For all fans with matchday tickets, please read the following Anfield fan checklist of need-to-know details ahead of Sunday’s clash with Crystal Palace.

The starting point is a set of shared principles which supporters are asked to adhere to; these are also known as a ‘Code of Conduct’.

Some of the principles will be familiar as part of society’s ‘new normal’. Others will be specific to football stadia. But they all have the same aim – to create a framework that acts in the best interests of those who attend matches.

Ahead of the game

Fans will need to complete a health declaration form which is linked to each NFC digital ticket – without this complete there is no entry to the stadium.

Fans must download their NFC digital ticket to their smartphone using this step-by-step instruction guide. The ticket office will be open on matchday for support.

Once fans have downloaded, they will need to know their entry time and access point, as this will be different to a normal matchday. Fans must bring photographic ID with them to match the name on the ticket.

Get tested

In line with city partners at Liverpool City Council’s Ground Safety Advisory Group and Public Health Department, supporters are strongly recommended to take a lateral flow test 24 to 36 hours prior to kick-off.

Access to COVID-19 tests across the city are being expanded in advance of the game. Find out more here.

Matt Ashton, director of public health at Liverpool City Council, said: “The return of football fans to Anfield for the last home game of the season is a landmark moment in our slow return to normality from the grip of lockdown.

“I’d like to thank Liverpool Football Club for their support in encouraging their fans to take this test. We will mobilise community testing centres to make the tests as accessible to as many fans as possible. We would also like to remind supporters that testing kits are available from various locations within the community and can even be sent directly to their home.

“The test takes no time at all and does not hurt. By getting a negative result, fans will be able to watch the game with the peace of mind that they are doing so safely.”

Plan your travel

Your travel options, including express matchday bus services and more information on road closures around the stadium, can be found here.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, some public transport services may have a reduced timetable. Please plan your route in advance and check the latest updates on Merseytravel journey planner.

To enter the stadium

There will be a phased entry process into the stadium in order to safely control the flow of fans around the ground. There are designated access points for all supporters on matchday which will be specified on each NFC digital ticket along with a specific entry time. This allows time for necessary security checks, which may include random searches. No bags are allowed into the stadium unless from the LFC retail store.

Please only arrive at the stadium at the time specified on your NFC digital ticket. Anyone arriving later than their requested time will be allowed entry but may be delayed while others enter at their allotted time.

Once inside the stadium

Follow the COVID-19 regulations, which include wearing a suitable face covering (unless medically exempt), keeping two-metre social distancing, and washing and sanitising hands regularly.

Please follow the one-way systems and any directional signage that are in place. Please remain seated in your allocated seat or viewing position while watching the match.

The stadium is now a cashless stadium and only accepts contactless and/or chip and pin payments. There will be complimentary drinks for all fans, with free hot drinks and bottled water.

Any food and drink bought on the concourses must be consumed at your allocated seat or viewing position to allow as much space in concourse areas as possible.

Alcohol will not be available to purchase on the concourses.

SeatServe will also be in operation throughout the stadium for you to buy food and drink and have it served directly to your seat – download the app here.

Leaving Anfield

The team will exit the field after the final whistle before re-entering for the traditional end-of-season lap of honour. There will be a staggered exit procedure and direction from matchday stewards following this.

Whilst exiting please remember to wear your face covering and maintain social distancing, at all times. Respect our neighbours by leaving quietly and taking your litter home.

The health, safety and security of everyone attending the game is the club’s number one priority and the changes are to ensure that the stadium is a safe and enjoyable environment for everyone.
