LFC staff and fans will proudly march together in solidarity in LCR Pride Foundation’s March on Saturday July 29. This year, LCR Pride Foundation’s annual theme is ‘Shout It Loud’ to encourage local LGBT+ people to be proud of who they are.
The ‘March with Pride’, which will start from Liverpool’s iconic St George’s Plateau, is part of a full programme of activities taking place around the city, from pop-up community performances to a diverse series of fringe events.
Throughout July, the club has hosted a variety of Pride-themed activities, including a Pride 2023 badge design competition and the LFC Foundation Pride tournament, which welcomed 20 teams to compete at the Academy in Kirkby, with some of club’s key stakeholders taking part, such as Kop Outs, the Liverpool Disabled Supporters Association and Mersey Marauders.
The club also added a new Pride name and number option to its popular Pride range, which allows fans to personalise their shirts using Pride colours.
Other items featured in the Pride collection include scarves, clothing and souvenirs. Once again, a percentage of the proceeds from the collection will be donated to local LGBT+ charities that the club is supporting as part of its Red Together campaign.
Last year, £6,500 raised from the club’s Pride range was donated to two local LGBT+ charities, The Michael Causer Foundation and Young Person Advisory Service, to help support more young people.
LFC’s Pride retail range is available online store, via the LFC Store app and in official LFC stores.
LFC’s director of impact Rishi Jain – who is responsible for leading The Red Way, the club’s approach to sustainability across three pillars: people, planet and communities – said: “Celebrating Pride across our city throughout July presents a range of fantastic events for both our staff and fans to get involved in and show their support to our local LGBT+ community and beyond.
“The ‘March with Pride’ event is always a highlight and one which we have supported for over 10 years.
“Through our Red Together campaign, we are committed to bringing about change and part of that is helping to raise awareness of important issues that continue to impact the lives of the LGBT+ community.
“As a club we celebrate the diversity of our fans and strive to make everyone feel welcome and take pride in being their authentic self.”
