The new family building provides the ideal place for parents and family members to come together and relax while watching their youngsters train and play.
The building forms part of the wider redevelopment on the Academy site and boasts a range of family-friendly facilities, such as a comfortable relaxation area, space for young siblings to complete their homework, a kitchenette and vending facilities, a terrace and newly-constructed changing facilities.
With LFC’s family traditions at the heart of the design, visitors will also find a few special touches throughout the facilities including a mural dedicated to the importance of family, a ‘thank you’ message to family members for their continued support, and a pillar positioned towards the centre of the room adorned with famous Scouse phrases.
Inspiration for the look and feel of the building came from the overall design plans and world-class facilities that will be available at the Reds’ new training ground, due to be completed in summer 2020.
Academy director Alex Inglethorpe said: “We’re really pleased that our new family room has been finished and is open for use. It’s a great place for relatives and friends to relax and support our young players along their journey through the Academy.
“As a club, our strong family values are deep rooted in our traditions, so it seemed fitting to create a space where we can all come together as one family to celebrate and enjoy the successes of LFC’s future generation of footballers.”
Sadie Julienne, mum of two Academy players, said: “The family room has been great for both training days and game days - being able to stay out of the wet and cold weather but still being able to watch both my children play football has been great. It’s a great addition to both myself and my children’s Academy journey.”
Mum Jo Hawkins is also impressed by the new facilities, saying: “The new family room at the Academy is a fantastic place for the parents and kids to keep warm. We can watch the kids playing football as the room overlooks the pitches, and not to mention the stylish decor. It’s a great addition and makes watching the football even more pleasurable.”
