Local residents joined participants of the Premier League Kicks Programme at the match against Tottenham Hotspur - thanks to the club’s Red Neighbours programme and the LFC Foundation - and were enjoying hospitality in an executive box when the Reds great unexpectedly called in to say hello.
LFC CEO Peter Moore also stopped by to personally welcome the guests, many of whom were attending a match at Anfield for the very first time.
Meanwhile, pupils from local school St Michael’s Catholic Primary were given the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to greet the two squads as they arrived at the ground.
Fifty-five Anfield schoolchildren also attended the thrilling 2-2 draw after receiving free tickets through Red Neighbours’ schools ticketing initiative, which is part of the focus on creating memorable experiences for young people.
