Twenty-three 18 to 25-year-olds joined Aldridge for a motivational teamtalk before heading out onto the pitch for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to play on the famous Anfield turf.
Afterwards, Evans reminisced on his journey from player to manager, and delivered an educational talk on employability and how participants can achieve their career goals.
As part of the LFC Foundation’s employment programme, the club’s official charity has teamed up with the club’s online foreign exchange trading partner, TigerWit, to help young people develop their personal and social skills to make a positive transition back into education, access training or gain meaningful employment.
Through an innovative combination of one-to-one support, personal development workshops, work placements and community action, the five-week scheme aims to inspire and support young people onto the next stage in their lives.
The scheme, which kicked off in May and will run until June, will next see the youngsters taking part in a CV surgery - which will be delivered by TigerWit and will focus on writing and constructing a successful CV that will capture the attention of future employers.
Those who complete the course will receive an employment certified qualification and benefit from 12 months follow-up support, with the aim of giving them the best possible start towards employment.
TigerWit is also offering the opportunity for select participants to attend an all-expenses-paid week of work experience in its London head office later in the year.
Matt Parish, director of LFC Foundation, said: “Our Premier League Works scheme is an exciting programme that can be extremely valuable to the 18 to 25-year-olds that attend to build their skills and find meaningful employment. This has been enriched by club partner TigerWit, who have enhanced this programme and taken it to the next level. We are looking forward to working together closely to offer life-changing experiences to the future generations and improve their chances of employment across Liverpool.”
Tim Hughes, CEO at TigerWit, said: “I recall how daunting the City was when I commenced my career. We want to help better prepare and equip young adults starting out in their chosen industries, so it isn’t as daunting a prospect. Along with the wider TigerWit team, which has an overwhelming experience in financial markets, we can share our knowledge and help guide the next generation in their career choices”.
