Xherdan Shaqiri visits Kirkby school

Xherdan Shaqiri visited pupils at All Saints Catholic High School in Kirkby last week, with an important message on their education and working hard in class.

The Reds midfielder met with over 50 students from years 7-12 to offer his advice, take part in Q&As and pose for photographs.

Shaqiri joined members of LFC’s Red Neighbours team for the inspirational session, which focused on encouraging the youngsters to concentrate on their education and work hard to achieve their dreams.

“It was surreal to have Shaqiri here,” said JJ, Head Boy at All Saints Catholic High School. “He talked to us about the importance of education and told us about his own story of working his way up to where he is today.

“It was such a brilliant experience having a first-team player visit our school.”

Red Neighbours - which initially operated in the L4, L5 and L6 postcodes - has recently expanded its delivery into the Kirkby area, launching various initiatives such as ‘bookend’ generation activities and employability sessions.

The activities form part of LFC’s commitment to being a good neighbour, with the club set to open its new training ground in the area in summer 2020.
