OLSC London members donate face masks to LFC Foundation

Members of the Official Liverpool Supporters Club (OLSC) London have donated 12,000 medically-approved face coverings to the LFC Foundation in order to support the club’s COVID-19 community response work.

Following this kind donation by two Reds, Veiko Tamm and Wahid Musawi from Sonetum.se, the LFC Foundation has distributed a total of 7,000 face masks to the Liverpool Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), Fans Supporting Foodbanks and local community groups in Kirkby.

An additional 5,000 face coverings will be donated to the Ian Rush Foundation, a charity supporting grassroots football and vulnerable communities across the country.

Thanks to the support of the OLSC London, the LFC Foundation has been able to continue its delivery of personal protective equipment to those in need throughout the Liverpool City Region.

Matt Parish, LFC Foundation director, said: “It’s fantastic to see our fans coming together to ensure that those in our community are kept safe as we work through this pandemic. The safety and welfare of healthcare practitioners and other frontline workers is so important, and we hope that these masks will ensure safe practice throughout this time.

“Thank you to the members of the Official Liverpool Supporters Club London for this kind donation, it will prove integral throughout this challenging period.”

Hans Sok Appadu (Soky), an executive member of the OLSC London, said: “We can’t thank Veiko and Wahid enough for their generous donation. Although they both reside in Europe, they have close affiliations to our LFC London comrades and the OLSC London branch.

“They both expressed how overwhelmed they were by the unconditional commitments of the volunteers and wanted to help where they could. We hope others will follow and support the volunteers and our beloved city. YNWA.”

Earlier this month, thr LFC Foundation donated a further 25,000 face masks to the Liverpool CCG – the organisation supporting health services for the city – for local GPs and NHS staff.
