Reds stars support This Means More Challenge Weekend

Jürgen Klopp, Georginio Wijnaldum, Neco Williams, Linda Pizzuti Henry, John W. Henry and Peter Moore encourage Official Liverpool Supporters Clubs to unite this September to take positive action in their local communities during the coronavirus pandemic.

LFC Foundation, the club’s official charity, has released a video featuring Reds first-team players, management and owners inspiring the club’s global fanbase to get involved in its new ‘This Means More Challenge Weekend’ initiative through the club’s vast network of more than 300 OLSCs.

More than 40 OLSCs have already signed up to the challenge, registering their passionate members to get creative in a fun-filled weekend of activities that will help to make a difference to their most vulnerable communities.

Each OLSC is invited to form groups of up to 15 supporters to collectively take part in a community activity of their choice or from a range of fun activities suggested by LFC Foundation.

All activities will take place from Friday September 4 to Sunday September 6 and have been specially designed to ensure the safety of all involved amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

Fans can upload photos and footage of their activities to a dedicated portal where a judging panel including Moore, LFC Foundation trustee Pizzuti Henry, LFC Foundation director Matt Parish, and former Reds players will decide the winning entries.

OLSCs can be in with the chance to win exclusive LFC prizes, memorable experiences and more in the four main categories: overall winner, most family-friendly, most community-focused, and most creative and innovative.

The winning team will also enjoy a very special live video call with Klopp and have their branch flag and crest on display at Anfield during next season.

All teams will receive a digital support pack, certificate of participation and an invitation to the virtual celebration and awards ceremony, taking place in the week commencing October 5.

In the video to OLSCs and their members, Wijnaldum said: “We are told about the great community work done by branches around the world. And we hear about the friendships, the songs, the humour, and the sense of family that has developed between members.”

Pizzuti Henry added: “Well, we want to see it, celebrate it, and capture it! For one spectacular weekend, we want to see how creative, passionate, and impactful your local supporters club is, so we can show the world what it means to be part of the LFC family.”

Registration for the event closes on Friday August 21, with a further deadline for the uploading of content by Sunday September 20.

As part of the initiative, fans are also given the opportunity to make a donation to support their local foodbank provision.
