The #Morethanfootball Action Weeks, which run from September 15 to October 11, provide clubs with a platform to inform and engage with fans and stakeholders on their community and social responsibility activities.
Supported by the UEFA Foundation for Children, the European Club Association and the European Football for Development Network, the campaign also raises awareness of the role European club football can play in changing peoples’ lives for the better.
LFC Foundation will be joining forces with the club’s community team, Red Neighbours, to participate in Action Days and online challenges across Kick-off European Week of Sport, Special Olympics European Football Week, International Day of Older Persons, World Mental Health Day and more.
One participating club will be rewarded for the best project promoted during the #Morethanfootball Action Weeks and will be assessed on the quality of the project, level of promotion and engagement across various initiatives online.
The winning club will also receive a complete Mini-Pitch System™ modular sports solution – a small outdoor pitch for the club’s communities to enjoy going forward.
Matt Parish, director of LFC Foundation, said: “We are delighted to participate in this year’s #Morethanfootball campaign. Football clubs play a pivotal role in implementing positive change within a local community, and I feel this is a great opportunity to raise awareness of the work our Foundation and Red Neighbours teams do to support those from all walks of life.”
Forbes Duff, Red Neighbours senior manager, said: “Over the course of the #Morethanfootball Action Weeks, we will showcase all of the great work that the club and LFC Foundation is doing to support the LFC family.
“We strive to make a positive impact in our communities, whether that is by highlighting and supporting important issues or through providing help to those in need, which is particularly important now with many people living in difficult and challenging circumstances as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.”
