LFC Foundation Day case study: Meet Marcus

As part of LFC Foundation Day 2021, we are celebrating the achievements of our participants.

The Foundation has been overwhelmed by the resilience, passion and loyalty each participant has shown on our community programmes, throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown.

Meet nine-year-old Marcus

Marcus is a participant on LFC Foundation's Premier League Primary Stars programme, and regular attendee of the Breakfast Club at his school.

Marcus was nominated by Foundation coach Ste Leftley for a special, celebratory shoutout this Foundation Day, and we've provided a platform for his story with his mum, Sarah.

"His smile and enthusiasm throughout the sessions has provided a lot of enjoyment for all the staff in school and his peers," said Leftley.

"Marcus has encouraged other children to take part in PE in his class, inspiring his friends with his development.

"From taking very tentative steps, Marcus has worked hard on improving his balance and co-ordination skills, rising to each challenge. He knows that he is in a safe learning space."

Sarah, meanwhile, said: "His confidence goes up massively when he plays football, which helps his schoolwork too.

"Not everyone accepts Marcus for who he is. But his classmates have been inspired by Marcus to get involved in the fun, which is really nice to see them join together."

LFC Foundation would like to thank Marcus for being an exceptional participant and for all his effort in class.
