The Japan-based food manufacturer – which has been a long-standing supporter of the club’s local food initiatives – presented the new vehicle to the St Andrew’s Community Network team, who run the North Liverpool Foodbank, at their headquarters alongside Reds legend Sir Kenny Dalglish.
During his recent visit, Sir Kenny chatted to staff about how the COVID-19 pandemic has affected their work and how the support they receive is more important than ever. The staff were also surprised with videos of thanks from four first-team players, including James Milner and Diogo Jota, praising individual members of staff for their contributions.
This donation is the latest commitment from NH Foods to helping those in need, having previously donated supplies of tinned meat and chicken, supported the club’s Christmas hampers for local families, and purchased a new fridge and freezer for North Liverpool Foodbank’s St George’s Community Pantry, which provides accessible and affordable food throughout a local community in Liverpool.
Forbes Duff, senior manager, Red Neighbours, said: “I would like to thank NH Foods for their continued support of the work we do to tackle food poverty in our local communities. Their generous donations make such a big difference to local foodbanks and pantries that help hundreds of people and families in food crisis every week.”
