Four-midable Rush (1982)
Ian Rush scored four times as Liverpool demolished the Blues 5-0 at Goodison Park. With future Red Steve McMahon playing in a blue shirt, Bob Paisley's side produced one of the most complete Merseyside derby performances ever seen. Rush netted the opening goal on 11 minutes before Howard Kendall's Everton were reduced to 10 men when Glen Keeley hauled back Kenny Dalglish as he moved clean through on goal. The day was all about Rush, though, as he netted three more second-half goals and Mark Lawrenson was also on target. A famous song to commemorate Rush's scoring feat was born - and lives on to this day.
Gary Mac's last-gasp winner (2001)
Gary McAllister wrote himself into derby folklore with a stunning stoppage-time winner at Goodison Park. Emile Heskey fired the Reds into the lead only to see Duncan Ferguson level just before the break. Markus Babbel then drilled home to make it 2-1 following a wonderful counter-attack, and two minutes later Robbie Fowler missed a great chance when he struck the post from a penalty. The Blues thought they had salvaged a point on 83 minutes as David Unsworth converted a spot-kick. But, after Gregory Vignal was brought down in the fourth minute of added time, the stage was set - McAllister stepped up to send a curling free-kick from distance past Paul Gerrard and signal wild scenes of celebration in the away section.
Mane's Merry Christmas (2016)
Sadio Mane made it a red Christmas with a last-minute winner across Stanley Park. A tight game appeared to be heading for a draw until Daniel Sturridge hit a shot from just outside the box. The ball came back off the post and Mane was on hand to score, sending the red half of Merseyside wild with delight. Another new song was soon written...
King Kenny's derby delight (1985)
A nationwide TV blackout stopped fans in the UK witnessing any top-flight football for the first part of 1985-86 but the 51,509 spectactors enjoyed an absolute classic. Player-manager Dalglish picked himself in the team and it was an inspired choice as he brilliantly curled home inside the opening 25 seconds. Rush, almost inevitably, made it 2-0 and McMahon drilled home goal number three against his former club. Graeme Sharp pulled a goal back and Dalglish was then guilty of missing two sitters to make the derby safe. Gary Lineker made it 3-2 six minutes from time and Adrian Heath hit the bar, but the Reds held on.
Riise sinks the Blues (2001)
Steven Gerrard and John Arne Riise scored brilliant goals as the Reds came from a goal down to win 3-1. Kevin Campbell turned and slotted the Blues into the lead only to see Gerrard cancel it out with an unstoppable finish into the top corner of the net. Michael Owen made it 2-1 from the penalty spot, before Riise charged through on a brilliant solo run to seal victory.
