Salah names his favourite Liverpool goal so far...

Mohamed Salah chose his Merseyside derby curler as the best of his 21 goals for Liverpool so far.

The Egypt international has taken up near-constant presence on the scoresheet since joining the Reds from AS Roma in the summer, surpassing his personal best for a single season by mid-December.

Speaking to Sky Sports News, the No.11 reflected on a number of the key markers in his hot streak – from the importance of the first goal to the solo effort against Everton that is his favourite to date…

On his first goal, at Watford…

It was a great feeling to score in my first game for Liverpool. I was very, very happy. To start with the team in the Premier League is a special feeling, a special moment. I felt [part of the club] from the players from the first day; all them of are humble and everyone is very nice. That game and my first goal, that’s what I wanted to do.

On his counter-attack strike against Arsenal at Anfield…

To score against Arsenal in a big game, a big team, and the way I scored – I like it. Speed on the counter-attack. The result was good for us. I was thinking if someone was on the other side that I’d pass the ball, 100 per cent. But I was fast, maybe faster than anyone, so I took the decision to shoot. I missed some chances before but this one was good, and that’s the most important thing!

On his equaliser past Burnley…

With this boss, I play a little bit closer to the goal than at any other club or with any coach. I’m always very close to the goal to score. I expected the ball from Emre, then I had the run and the ball control. It was a good finish. In the beginning, when I had just signed for Liverpool, it was a little bit different to Roma. But after that I knew what the coach wanted from me, and the quality of the players makes everything easier for me. From the first day I knew what I wanted to do, and I scored four goals in pre-season so I had a good start from the beginning.

On his double as a substitute at Stoke City…

That game was special. You are on the bench and then you go on to score two goals to help the team with a good result. Sadio scored the first goal and for the second goal, he did everything and played a great ball. I took the decision to volley it – a good finish. But, in the end, Sadio did everything for that goal.

On his Merseyside derby curler…

This one is special. It had power, skill, finishing. I choose this one as my best goal so far.
