The Liverpool squad flew out to Italy on Tuesday afternoon to step up preparations for the second leg of the sides’ last-four clash, which they lead 5-2 thanks to a rip-roaring display on Merseyside last week.
Klopp’s men will run out at Stadio Olimpico in the same position as they did at Etihad Stadium in the quarter-finals - in command with a three-goal advantage over their opponents.
Having weathered an early storm which included one concession against City, the Reds turned the tide and ultimately beat their Premier League rivals on the night as well as in the tie.
The manager would obviously prefer his team to avoid a repeat of the second-minute goal they shipped that evening, but believes the performance that followed is the blueprint for success again in Rome.
On board the team flight, Klopp told Liverpoolfc.com: “It’s similar. Do we want [to concede] an early goal? No, of course not!
“But stay really on track in a game like this, stay well, be completely clear in mind and create your own moments. In the moment when you have the chance - do it.
“That’s big football, really big football. I loved it [against City]. Tomorrow, we have to defend them with all we have and we have to attack them with all we have. I’m really looking forward to it.”

Asked to explain his insistence on Liverpool being ‘brave’ in such important matches, Klopp said: “It’s clear everybody thinks we have to defend the result, but I don’t think it works with offensive things.
“Of course we need to be brave. But the boys showed very often this season they are ready for these challenges.
“Pretty much everybody wants to impress us when we come. They all shout for their team - that’s completely cool. How we use Anfield, they should be able to use their atmosphere.
“But, in the end, as I’ve said before: if we go through to the final, we deserve it. If they go through to the final, they deserve it. It’s as simple as that.
“Go there, play the best football you can play and then we’ll see after the game what happened.”
Reds fans are understandably enthralled by the prospect of a first appearance in the final of Europe’s elite club competition since 2007.
Klopp encourages those sentiments at such an exciting juncture of the season and, though he knows better than anyone the work that must still be done, thrives on the tantalising scenarios at play.
“[The fans] deserve it, of course. We all deserve it,” he said.
“It was hard work. It was fantastic but nothing happened [yet] really. [There is] still a semi-final to play and then if we win, you want to win the final - that [would be] the next pressure moment.
“In the Premier League, nothing is decided; Chelsea win their games, Tottenham win their games, so we need to win our games.
“It’s an interesting moment. The good thing for us is that everything is still possible. That’s the best thing you can say about the situation.”
