Liverpool take on Real Madrid at the NSC Olimpiyskiy Stadium on Saturday night, with European club football’s top prize on offer to the winners.
Salah’s tally of 44 goals this season is equalled by the holders’ Cristiano Ronaldo and while Klopp admitted the No.11 must repeat his phenomenal exploits in the years to come if he is to be compared with the Portuguese and Lionel Messi, he reported that the forward is raring to make his mark on this huge stage.
“He is full of power and whatever you need to be the day before a final or a football game in general,” said the manager at his pre-match press conference.
Klopp continued: “Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo deserve all the praise and all the things they won in the past because they were constantly, over years, on that level.
“Now they are 30-something and still in fantastic shape, both still scoring an unbelievable number of goals. Now everybody is waiting for the next one.
“If Mo can go there, we will see in the next years. He has fantastic potential; this season was exceptional, unbelievable so far with one more game to go. The season was outstanding.
“The next few years will show if he can do something similar. It’s not that easy because otherwise a lot more players would have done it.
“These two [Messi and Ronaldo] are the most consistent players on the highest level in the last 10 years, maybe longer – 12 or 13 years. That makes them really special. Mo had a good start and we will see what will happen in the next few years.”
