Klopp explains Danny Ward's absence at Bury

Danny Ward is set to play in Liverpool’s friendly at Blackburn Rovers on Thursday after sitting out this afternoon’s meeting with Bury, Jürgen Klopp has confirmed.

After featuring for a half in each of the Reds’ summer matches so far, goalkeeper Ward is completing a full training session at Melwood on Saturday while Loris Karius plays at Gigg Lane in a game you can watch live on LFCTV and LFCTV GO.

And, speaking before kick-off, Klopp said that this is due to his decision that his stoppers now require more than 45 minutes of action per friendly as pre-season progresses.

Wales international Ward will, Klopp explained, feature at Ewood Park in five days’ time.

“Wardy and Loris, they’ve switched because today Loris will play longer than 45 minutes, and then Wardy will in the next game and so that’s the only reason for that,” the boss told Liverpoolfc.com.
