The table-topping Reds return to Premier League action after the international break with a lunchtime kick-off at home to Steve Bruce's side.
The Magpies have four points to their name so far this season and picked up three of those in London last month with a 1-0 triumph over last season's Champions League finalists.
"It's really strange, they had something like 20 per cent possession at Tottenham, but deserved the three points, to be honest," Klopp said at his pre-match press conference on Friday.
"Because with this 20 per cent possession, they did a lot of really good stuff and it's difficult.
"For us tomorrow, the game will be a real challenge and we need pretty much everybody on their toes.
"I don't know when we had the last home game, the last away game was Burnley, so three weeks probably when we last played at home against Arsenal. We need that atmosphere again at 12.30. If we have that atmosphere then we can do something."
The Liverpool manager paid tribute to the work done at the north east club by Bruce since he replaced the popular Rafael Benitez in July.
"It was really difficult with Rafa leaving and stuff like that," Klopp continued. "Even I was not too much in football at that time, but I felt everybody informed me about that.
"For Steve, for sure, a difficult job. Following after Rafa is probably never easy but in this specific case, really difficult. He did fantastic so far, really fantastic. Close games, OK the [second] one against Norwich maybe not too nice but since then close games and good results as well.
"Very difficult to play. They kept pretty much the style of last year. Rondon got replaced by Joelinton – if you're looking for a player who plays similar to Rondon, perfect choice. He can keep the ball, he's a proper threat, has the speed and all that stuff.
"The wing is quick, five in the back and all that stuff, it's difficult to create chances against. They are always ready for counter-attacks, so they have the speed for it.
"How I said, 24 or 25 per cent possession at Tottenham but always really, really good. They scored a wonderful goal and defended with a big heart and good organisation.
"That's what we had to prepare for and that's what we did. That will not be easy. I'm really impressed by the solutions they found and things they did so far."
