Club World Cup: Al Sadd win tournament's opening match

Al Sadd beat Hienghene Sport 3-1 in the opening match of the FIFA Club World Cup on Wednesday night to set up a quarter-final against Monterrey.

The current Qatari league champions – coached by Spain legend Xavi Hernandez – defeated the Oceanian representatives in Doha after two goals in extra-time.

Al Sadd therefore progress to a clash with CONCACAF Champions League holders Monterrey on Saturday, with the winners of that tie set to face Liverpool in the semi-finals on December 18.
