Gini Wijnaldum reveals goal celebration inspiration

Georginio Wijnaldum has revealed the inspiration behind his goal celebration.

Liverpool’s No.5 has made the routine something of a trademark this season, with Virgil van Dijk usually joining in following his strikes for both club and country.

And Wijnaldum has set his sights on emulating another teammate who boasts a sizeable and varied collection of celebrations.

“To be fair, I just copied it, I stole it from a rapper called Young MA! I saw her doing it in a video clip and I was like, ‘That’s really nice so I’m going to do that when I score,’” the Dutchman told Liverpoolfc.com of his current routine.

“[But] I want to do it more like Firmino because he has loads of celebrations, so hopefully I can do loads because that means that you score a lot!

“Let’s hope that I can do more, but that one I stole from Young MA - so I hope she’s not mad about it!”
