The match at the Amex Stadium will kick off around two-and-a-half days after the Reds’ Champions League clash with Atalanta BC finished and, given that tight turnaround, Jürgen Klopp is affording himself as much time as possible before selecting his travelling party.
Captain Jordan Henderson may return after a two-game absence due to a muscle issue.
“Hendo trained yesterday, parts of team training and then had his individual session, so we have to see what we do with that,” Klopp said on Friday.
“For all the other players who played now [against Atalanta], they are still in recovery, so that’s how it is when you have only these few days in between. We have to make late decisions, so if you were to ask me now what will be the line-up and I was in a mood to tell you, I couldn’t!
“I [will] make this decision as late as possible because I have to wait until the medical department tells me who looks like [they’re] ready.
“Then it looks like from now on we have another 25-and-a-half hours to make sure that we bring the fittest and freshest players on the pitch.”
Meanwhile, Adam Lallana is a doubt to face his former club after he was forced off at half-time in Brighton’s recent win at Aston Villa. Tariq Lamptey is suspended as a result of his sending-off in that fixture.
However, Seagulls boss Graham Potter’s options have been boosted by forward Leandro Trossard’s return to full training.
Speaking to reporters on Thursday, Potter said: “Leo Trossard will be available in the squad. He’s trained a couple of times with us, so that’s good.
“Adam Lallana, we still need to give him a bit more time after the weekend. Solly [March] had a slight feeling in his ankle but nothing too bad, so he should be OK.”
