The Liverpool defender was tonight revealed as part of a line-up that is selected by the votes of professional players from around the world.
This latest edition of the Men’s World 11 is based on individual performances during the period from August 2021 to December 2022 inclusive.
For Van Dijk that spell included an integral contribution to the Reds’ tilt at a quadruple last season, featuring success in the Emirates FA Cup and Carabao Cup, a second-placed finish in the Premier League and a third Champions League final appearance in five campaigns.
He also captained his country to a quarter-final berth at the World Cup, where he played every minute of the Netherlands’ five fixtures.
The World 11 is composed of the goalkeeper, three defenders, three midfielders and three forwards who receive the most votes in their position, with the final place given to the outfield player with the next highest tally.
It is Van Dijk’s third inclusion in the Men’s World 11.
