Chelsea and Liverpool are both watching developments on England left-back Bertrand, who is ready to leave St Mary's.
The 27-year-old has made it clear to team-mates that he thinks he will be on his way, with interest growing for a summer move.
Chelsea are interested in re-signing Bertrand, who started their 2012 Champions League final triumph but left Stamford Bridge in search of regular football.
Bertrand, who joined Saints on loan initially before a permanent transfer two years ago has gone on to establish himself as one of the Premier League's best left-backs.
The Londoner still lives in the area, and Chelsea want to strengthen their wing-back options.
Liverpool also want a left-back — boss Jurgen Klopp, who also has his eye on Fulham whizkid Ryan Sessegnon, has used midfielder James Milner as a makeshift solution at the position all season.
