Liverpool sold Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona for £142million this evening and they have now set the wheels in motion to bring in his replacement.
According to beIN Sports, Liverpool will shell out €55million (£49m) to bring Leicester star Mahrez to Anfield.
The 26-year-old was a major part of Claudio Ranieri’s Foxes which shocked the world by winning the Premier League in 2016.
There has been much speculation since that title-winning campaign that Mahrez would leave the club.
And he even came close to joining Arsenal last season but the deal fell through.
Now beIN Sports report that the Algerian is on the verge of a big move and will sign a four-and-a-half year deal on Sunday.
Mahrez has scored eight goals in 26 appearances this season.
