Reds' Berlin fixture to use VAR technology

Liverpool's friendly with Hertha BSC today will feature the use of video assistant referee technology.

The encounter in the German capital will see the system utilised for the first time in a fixture involving the Reds.

VAR only intervenes when a ‘clear wrong decision has been made’.

The video assistant then assesses the situation using the available camera feeds and informs the match referee via an ear piece.

The official can maintain the decision, follow the VA’s guidance or ask for a monitor to see the incident. He will then make his final call on the pitch.
