Getting to Anfield

We have worked together with Merseytravel and local transport operators to help make matchday travel more convenient for you, public transport is the easiest and most efficient way to reach the game.  

Whether you live locally or are travelling from the outside Liverpool City Region, we recommend that you plan your route in advance and arrive for your designated entry time.

BY BUS AND SOCCERBUS

Bus is fast frequent and convenient with 'express' services that will get you to and from Anfield and Liverpool City Centre in around 15mins. 

The 917 is operating from Commutation Row in the City Centre. Prices are £2.30 adult single, £4.60 adult return/day ticket, £1.20 child single, £2.30 child return/day ticket. You can find out more by clicking here. Fans can use the return service from Walton Lane after the match.

Other services are available:

From Liverpool City Centre, take the 26 from Liverpool ONE bus station, 17 from Queen Square Bus Station or the 917 from St Johns Lane, directly to the ground. The 68/168, which operates between Bootle and Aigburth, and the 14 and 19 (from Queen Square) stop a short walk away from the ground.

The Soccerbus runs from Sandhills Station, on the Merseyrail Northern Line, to Anfield for all Premier League and cup matches. The Soccerbus runs two hours before each match (last bus from Sandhills Station is approximately 15 minutes before kick-off). You can find out more by clicking here.

BY TRAIN

If you're travelling from outside the Liverpool area: 

Lime Street Railway Station is Liverpool's mainline station for regional and national journeys. It is two miles from Anfield and taxis are also available at the station.

If you're travelling within the Liverpool area: 

Merseyrail operates regular services across 67 stations throughout Merseyside. Passengers can get regular services into Liverpool from Ellesmere Port, Chester, West Kirby and New Brighton on the Wirral Line and Southport, Ormskirk, Kirkby and Hunts Cross on the Northern Line. Take advantage of park and ride. A number of Merseyrail stations have car parks. You can find them here

Passengers travelling to matches can use either the Soccerbus from Sandhills station for just £1.60 for adults and 80p for kids or enjoy a walk or cycle from Kirkdale station. Merseyrail trains run between Sandhills and Moorfields/Liverpool Central in the city centre every 4 – 7 minutes throughout the day (see Merseyrail's website for more information), so it’s easy to catch your connecting train. 

Passengers living in South Liverpool can get the Southport to Hunts Cross service which calls at Brunswick, St Michael's, Aigburth, Cressington, Liverpool South parkway and Hunts Cross. Those using Soccerbus can get a Southport/Hunts Cross train to and from Sandhills. Passengers travelling to or from the City Centre, can also use Ormskirk and Kirkby trains to travel to and from Sandhills. Services run on these lines normally run every 15 minutes throughout the day and evening Mondays to Saturdays and every 30 minutes on Sundays (for up-to-date information about timetables consult Merseyrail’s website). 

Many mainline rail services call at Liverpool South Parkway. If you get off here, you can connect on to Merseyrail's Northern Line which will take you to Sandhills station. From here you can either pick up the Soccerbus to Anfield (you can find out more here) or walk to the ground in less than 30 minutes. Walking routes are signposted. 

Merseyrail Northern and Wirral Lines are currently operating a special timetable – please note that services will be operating on a 20 min daytime frequency between 14th Feb – 6th April.

Please be aware that some services may be reduced due to Covid-19 restrictions so please plan your journey in advance. 

BY TAXI

Taxis from the city centre to Anfield usually cost between £7-£9.

Taxi One operates a taxibus service from Commutation Row, Liverpool city centre direct to Anfield from £2.50 per person. A frequent service operates from 3.5 hours prior to kick off. Please note that there is no return service to the city centre.

BY BIKE

The Cycle Hub is a FREE service that allows fans who cycle to the game to drop-off and park their bike safely and securely with an attendant. The Cycle Hub is situated in Stanley Park Car Park, a few minutes’ walk from the Anfield Road end of the Stadium. Simply ride to the Cycle Hub, where staff will register and secure your bike. You will be given a receipt which must be presented on collection. Cycle Hub can provide locks, but you can use your own if you wish. 

Why not combine the train and cycling? Merseyrail allows cycles. Get the train to nearby Sandhills and Kirkdale Stations and take advantage of the Cycle Hub in Stanley Park Car Park.

ON FOOT

Both Sandhills and Kirkdale stations on Merseyrail's Northern line are less than a 30-minute walk from Anfield. We advise fans to stick to the recommended walking routes which are clearly signposted and are popular ways to reach the stadium. 

BY CAR

Car parking - We strongly advise the use of public transport. A limited number of official LFC car parking spaces are available within walking distance of the Stadium however, all spaces must be pre-booked in advance – there will be no spaces available to purchase on the day.

If you’re unable to pre-book a space in one of the official car parks, there are a number of City Centre pay and display car parks that operate 24/7. The 917 express bus services are available from Commutation Row to the Stadium.

Please be aware that Anfield is located in a residential area with a residents parking scheme in operation. Please DO NOT park on residential streets as parking enforcement will be in operation. Any illegally parked cars will incur a fine.
