Dunn determined to prove his worth to Klopp
Jack Dunn has a burning desire to stay injury free and show Jürgen Klopp he can be the next in line of the crop of Academy youngsters to make a first-team bow.
The all-action Scouse forward, who turns 21 on Thursday, has built a reputation among regular Kirkby followers as an exciting talent with the ability to find the net from seemingly the most unlikely of angles.
His only senior appearance to date came when he scored in the friendly win at Shamrock Rovers in 2014 and he had loan spells with Cheltenham Town and Burton Albion last season.
Having been plagued by a troublesome hamstring injury which ruled him out for most of the campaign to date, Dunn returned as a substitute during the U21s' defeat at Chelsea last week.
He then featured in Friday’s behind-closed-doors friendly with Wolverhampton Wanderers at Melwood under the watchful eye of Klopp and came close to scoring during an eye-catching cameo.
On his return to action, Dunn told Liverpoolfc.com: “I'm absolutely over the moon to be back and hopefully I can put these injury problems behind me, get a good string of games and stay fit until the end of the season.
“I'm working hard with the physios and I have got to manage my body well. The main thing for me is to work hard in training and do well in the games.”
As for first impressions of the new boss, Dunn explained how Klopp has been very keen on getting to know all of the young players.
He added: “He seems terrific. He is very interactive with the young lads and he is trying to get to know all of us. I can't wait to work with him.
“Since the manager has come in there has been a lot of positivity around the club. There is a new opportunity for the younger lads and it has given everyone a massive boost.
“With these games behind closed doors, some players might turn their heads and think nothing of it, but for us these are the opportunities that you have got to take and shine through.
“Wolves put out a really strong side and it was a tough test for our lads and it was a tough game. It was a difficult game with the conditions - strong winds and rain - but we did well.”
