LFC Foundation College will face Burton Albion in the U19 Youth Development Cup final at the Kirkby Academy on Wednesday May 4, with fans welcome to come and watch the game, which kicks off at 7.30pm BST.

The team have enjoyed an outstanding season, going unbeaten as they won the U19 Youth Development League, reaching the semi-finals of the Dallas Cup, and seeing off Chelsea, Reading, Birmingham City and Plymouth Argyle en route to Wednesday's final.

The squad is comprised of local lads who have been released from Premier League and Football League clubs, as well as talented players looking to combine their education with progress in the game.

Head of education and sport at LFC Foundation College, Carl Giles, is very much looking forward to the game. He said: "It’s a great opportunity for the team to round off an excellent season. Talent scouts from the UK and USA have been monitoring our players closely.

“We have a great bunch of young men and a talented group, including top goalscorer Elliot Nevitt, who has been on trial at Barnsley FC.

"Goalkeeper Bartosz Kowalczyk has also spent the season training at the LFC Academy and at Melwood with the first team, while Tom Stephens had trials for England Schoolboys.

"Following the Dallas Cup, eight players were offered 100 per cent USA Scholarships - it’s a tribute to their hard work in the classroom and out on the training field."

Giles added: "We are currently recruiting new students. The developments we have for September 2016 will make our student experience unique, with tours to the likes of the Dallas Cup, Dubai, New York and Madrid, and the launch of sport science equipment to support player fitness and performance.

"In the classroom, students continue to achieve the highest possible outcomes, resulting in 100 per cent of them achieving their first-choice university offer, which is a fantastic accomplishment."
