Gary McAllister presents trophy to Reds youngsters
Liverpool FC’s U13s and U14s were given a warm Anfield welcome on Tuesday night as they made their way onto the pitch at half-time of the EFL Cup win over Leeds United.
Marc Bridge-Wilkinson’s side were invited onto the hallowed turf to be presented with the 2016 Youth Football Tournament Ateitis Cup by LFC ambassador Gary McAllister after winning the recent tournament in Lithuania.
The Reds drew 3-3 with Metta Riga from Latvia in the final before Isaac Mabaya scored the winning penalty to bring the trophy back to Anfield.
The U13s and U14s also managed to win a number of personal accolades with Harvey Davies, James Norris and Oakley Cannonier being named goalkeeper, midfielder and striker of the tournament respectively.
Captain of the team James Norris said: “It was brilliant to walk out at Anfield to collect the trophy from Gary. We played really well in the tournament and deserved to win the trophy so to be able to be presented with it at Anfield in front of more than 50,000 people was unbelievable.”
