Davor Suker predicts 'festival of football' at Anfield
Davor Suker anticipates a 'festival of football' when Brazil and Croatia meet in a World Cup warm-up fixture at Anfield this Sunday.
Roberto Firmino and a host of samba superstars will face Liverpool teammate Dejan Lovren and his compatriots in a match that is guaranteed to be entertaining as the two sides prepare for the tournament in Russia.
Tickets for the game, which kicks off at 3pm BST, are available from £10 for juniors and £30 for adults – click here for more information.
With Croatia boasting a stellar line-up of talented players themselves, Suker expects his country to go toe-to-toe with one of the favourites for World Cup glory.
“[Anfield] is one of the more charismatic stadiums and you also have the big club there,” said the former striker, who top-scored at the 1998 edition with six goals.
“Everyone who has the chance to visit Liverpool’s stadium to enjoy [it] understands it.
“Croatian players who will be there and Croatian fans; it will be absolutely exciting to watch the game and be part of the big festival of football.
“[Lovren] will be a really nice host for the Croatian football family. And of course, Liverpool will make a great game and a great atmosphere, and I would like all football fans in the United Kingdom to just come and enjoy this friendly game.
“It is the last game for Brazil and Croatia to play in a similar stadium to what we will expect in the World Cup.
“Brazil, of course, is one of the biggest teams in the world and, you know, Croatia, we are [a] small country but we are so proud and we have quality players.
“I expect [Luka] Modric, [Mario] Mandzukic, [Ivan] Perisic, [Ivan] Rakitic to have a big battle against the Brazilian players in the midfield and of course, we need to make [a] good game.”
