LFC given 'We're Fan Ready' mark ahead of Wolves game
Liverpool FC is uniting with sports clubs and venues around the country in support of 'For the Love of Sport' – a new campaign launched to promote the safe return of fans to live events.
The campaign, developed by the Sports Technology and Innovation Group, will promote the best ways for fans to attend sporting events safely and sets out how stadiums like Anfield have prepared for the safe return of supporters.
The newly-launched campaign includes a ‘We’re Fan Ready’ mark for sports grounds and venues to use as a recognised logo to reassure fans, attendees and the local community that supporters are united in the commitment of a safe environment for all.
Ahead of supporters returning to Anfield on Sunday for the Reds’ Premier League fixture against Wolverhampton Wanderers, the team at Anfield have worked hard to ensure strict safety measures are in place in order to protect supporters, staff and players.
The voluntary mark is in recognition of the protocols and guidance put in place by the Sports Grounds Safety Authority and the UK Government.
Paul Cuttill, VP of stadium operations, said: “The team have put in a tremendous amount of work to welcome back the fans in a safe and secure environment. It’s great to be able to have the ‘We’re Fan Ready’ mark on display to reassure our fans and local community.”
David Ross, chair of the Sports Technology and Innovation Group, said: “For both fans and sportsmen and women, the love of sports goes hand in glove with the atmosphere in stadiums. Everyone in sports is working extremely hard to get people back to cheering their teams on as soon and as safely as possible.
“Now more than ever, it’s really important that we all play our parts and follow the guidance. This will help us keep everyone safe and over time allow more and more fans back into the grounds.”
The club is in full support of the Liverpool City Region mass-testing programme and is encouraging all fans who are attending Sunday’s fixture to take a COVID-19 test either on the day of the game or the day before. This will not be a mandatory condition of entry.
