Reds support Royal British Legion's Poppy Appeal 2022
Liverpool FC will show its support for the Royal British Legion's Poppy Appeal 2022 with shirts embellished with poppies to mark this year's Remembrance commemorations.
Liverpool FC Women will wear poppy shirts on Sunday November 6 when they take on Aston Villa Women at Prenton Park. The men’s team will wear poppy shirts on Saturday November 12 in their fixture against Southampton at Anfield.
All players will sign their poppy jerseys – worn to remember the service and sacrifice of the armed forces community from Britain and the Commonwealth who serve to defend our democratic freedoms and way of life – and donate them to the Royal British Legion to be auctioned to raise funds for the Poppy Appeal 2022.
The Royal British Legion relies solely on the support of the public to provide lifelong support for both serving and ex-serving personnel and their families all year round.
Harvey Elliott said: “The team wears the poppy shirt with pride, and we come together to show our support and thanks to the armed forces community and their families who make many sacrifices for us all.”
Last year, the Reds’ commemorative shirts worn at the Brighton & Hove Albion and Blackburn Rovers Women fixtures raised more than £63,000 for the Royal British Legion.
Carla Humphrey added: “It’s an honour to support the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal and Remembrance activities to thank those who give so much to defend our freedoms.”
A minute’s silence will be observed ahead of kick-off at both fixtures, and further support to the Poppy Appeal will be given through an article published in LFC’s official matchday programme, perimeter LED boards and a Premier League LFC Poppy Pin on sale in LFC’s online retail store.
One hundred per cent of the proceeds raised from sales of the badge will go directly to the Royal British Legion. To purchase a club-branded pin badge and show your support, please visit here or https://www.poppyshop.org.uk.
The club will also proudly host ex-service personnel and representatives from the Royal British Legion, as well as veterans from LFC Foundation’s Military Veterans programme, at Anfield to enjoy the game against Southampton.
