The final piece of the structural frame has now been installed to form the main building at Liverpool FC’s new training ground in Kirkby, marking a significant milestone in the complex’s development.

The beam was one of the glulam timber rafters which was lifted and secured into the roof of the public atrium, completing the building’s 9,200sqm structure.

Taking around 12 weeks to erect, the framework for the new first-team and U23s building has been constructed using 2,000 pieces of steel, weighing 520 tonnes, and 144 glulam timber beams from Austria, weighing 80 tonnes in total.

Now that the fundamental framework has been completed, external brickwork will begin on site.

Since the redevelopment was confirmed by the club in July 2018, the project has continued at pace and is on track to meet its expected completion date in summer 2020.
