Kenny Dalglish is confident his quartet of new recruits have the winning mentality necessary to be a big success at Liverpool.

The Reds boss has been delighted by the business he has done in the transfer market so far and was quick to point out just what he believes the four additions will bring to his squad in the coming months.

Speaking at a packed press conference held to introduce Stewart Downing, Alexander Doni, Jordan Henderson and Charlie Adam to the media, Dalglish said: "Everybody you bring in you hope will improve the quality you already have here and enhance it.

"If they go about their work as well as they did at their previous clubs, then that will do us just fine.

"They want to win games at Liverpool just as at their previous clubs, so that's not a bad start. If they are level headed - which they are - and they are prepared to work hard - which they do - then we'll have a chance.

"We are pleased to have people here that appreciate what the football club is all about.

"Charlie was in Asia and saw what it was all about, and the other lads came to Norway and got an idea if they didn't already know.

"So they know what they are coming into and we are delighted to have them."

The boss was also asked if he planned on making further additions to his squad.

He said: "I'm no clairvoyant. I don't know what will happen but I'm certainly happy with who we've brought in at the moment.

"That's not a bad reflection on what anybody did last season. I think everyone looks for improvement and we are just looking to improve the football club.

"I think quality is more important than depth but if you have a bit of depth as well it is always helpful."

The Reds announced that they had reached an agreement for the transfer of Milan Jovanovic to Anderlecht on Tuesday night and Dalglish admitted there could yet be more players moving through the Anfield exit door.

He said: "Milan's gone to Anderlecht. That's one that has moved on. Whether others will go, that remains to be seen. Someone else will dictate that more than ourselves.

"The most important thing for us was getting people in and we've brought good people in.

"We've acted responsibly in the transfer market and we've also acted responsibly and respectfully with the owners, who have been fantastically supportive financially during the window.

"If there is a better owner that is as supportive as John Henry, then they have done very well for themselves because he's fantastically supportive."

Liverpool conclude their pre-season with a mouthwatering friendly against Valencia on Saturday.

Dalglish accepts the Reds could have enjoyed more success over the past few weeks but is convinced his players will be ready in time for the big kick off against Sunderland on August 13.

"It could have been better but we had a lot of people coming in at various times," he said.

"We've tried to be fair to all of the players and everyone that has been with us has had some time on the pitch because they've all trained really well.

"They've got the reward for what they've done in training and now we need to assess what we must do to go forward. We'll do that as we get closer to the Sunderland game.

"We will get closer to narrowing the squad down a bit and be more selective, but we've looked to give everyone an opportunity.

"Games is what you judge it on and some might get fit faster than others so we've got to try and make an assessment on that."

He added: "Valencia are a quality team. We saw them play last night against Hamburg and they were very impressive. They played good football, which Spanish teams usually do.

"It'll be a good test for us but I don't think it will be a barometer of what's going to happen in the season to come. I think the challenges we face in the coming year will be different to the one Valencia will pose for us."
