Rodolfo Borrell is hoping the Anfield factor can play a major role in helping his U19 side record back-to-back victories in the NextGen Series when Wolfsburg come to town tonight.

A 4-0 win in Molde last week was the perfect way for the Academy starlets to bounce back after the defeat against Sporting Lisbon and they will go into the game against the Germans in good spirits.

Wolfsburg have lost their opening two games in the NextGen Series at the hands of Molde and Sporting Lisbon, and Borrell is hoping home advantage can inspire his charges to inflicting more wounds on Stephan Schmidt's side.

"Winning is always important for the morale of the players and the squad so that was an important victory for us in Molde.

"The win has also helped in training because everyone is happier and are looking forward to this game.

"We put in a great performance overall and it was good to see us score four goals.

"Anfield is a magnificent stadium with a lot of history and it's fantastic for us to play there once again.

"For our lads I know what it means to them to play at this stadium. It's an unbelievable experience for them and hopefully we can play our normal game."

Borrell is well aware of the threat posed by Wolfsburg and he has told his side not to underestimate their qualities - despite them not winning so far in the NextGen Series.

He added: "This is going to be a tough season for us because we do have a very young side as everyone knows.

"We are facing in the reserve league teams who are a lot older than us and Wolfsburg have some experienced players in their squad.

"Wolfsburg have absolutely everything to play for. They might have lost their first two games but they played very well against Sporting Lisbon in their last game before they lost 2-1.

"We know last season they won everything at this level in Germany. They have had some players performing in their first team that will come to play against us.

"They are well organised and have quality. German sides feature usually quite big players and they are good at set pieces. We must try to hold them and not concede from set pieces.

"It is going to be tough and a good test but we need to be ready and be confident after our good performance against Molde.

"We must keep our philosophy of playing in the right way and try and be successful. If we can play like we know we can then that will be a key to this game."

In the absence of Jon Flanagan and Jack Robinson the coach has handed opportunities to teenage full-backs Brad Smith and Ryan McLaughlin and the pair certainly didn't let anyone down during the win last week in Norway.

"The fact that some of the players who could play are in the first team squad has given the likes of Brad and Ryan a chance and they did really well at Molde," he added.

"It's great for all of us to see Jon Flanagan and Jack Robinson with the first team because at the end of the day that is the main target for us."
