Martin Skrtel is hoping a return to Anfield on Saturday can bring Liverpool back to winning ways in the Barclays Premier League.

Kenny Dalglish's side have lost their last two top-flight matches on their travels at Stoke and Tottenham, but a win away to Brighton in the Carling Cup on Wednesday night was the perfect way to get the Reds back on track.

With a home game beckoning against Wolves at the weekend, Liverpool's No.37 is hoping the Reds can emulate their display in their last outing on home soil when he found the net in a 3-1 win against Bolton on August 27.

"We always look forward to our home games because there is something special about playing at Anfield," Skrtel told Liverpoolfc.tv.

"It's a great feeling every time we win at home and hopefully we can do that on Saturday.

"The crowd are always behind us and it was special for me to score in our last home game against Bolton.

"We know Wolves have a few good players and they started the season well but if we play like we did against Bolton at Anfield we know we are more than capable of getting the win."

Mick McCarthy's side won 1-0 at Anfield in the final game of 2010 last season but the Reds got their revenge when they scored three without reply in the return clash at Molineux.

"That was a bad night for us but I think it will be totally different this time," he added.

"We know the way they play but we have a different side  and a lot has changed since that game.

"Our 3-0 win away at Wolves was one of the best performances of last season and hopefully we can do the same again."

The Slovakian international served a one game suspension at the Amex Stadium but could be in line for a return to his favoured centre back role against Wolves, after Daniel Agger was ruled out of action for several weeks with a rib injury.

He added: "We had a bad day at Tottenham. It wasn't the best performance from the team and myself so we need to put that right on Saturday.

"I have tried to do my best in training and show the manager I am ready to do a job for him."

With the arrival of Uruguay international Sebastian Coates, competition for places at centre back is intense at Anfield, but Skrtel insists this is a great problem for the manager to have.

He said: "We've got five centre backs now and I think that can only be good for the club and for us because we need to fight for our position and give our best in every training session. That's the only way we can improve.

"It's good for us to have Coates here. He is a nice lad, he has settled in well and shown his quality."
