Kenny Dalglish claimed Liverpool were 'very fortunate to have Luis Suarez' after another match-winning performance against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday.

The No.7 fired the decisive second goal after Roger Johnson deflected a Charlie Adam strike into his own net early in the game.

Steven Fletcher hit a consolation as the contest ended 2-1.

Though Suarez will hog the headlines and rightly earned the praise of his manager, strike-partner Andy Carroll also received words of encouragement following a mature display in attack.

"Luis has been outstanding since he came to the football club, not just on the pitch but off it as well," said Dalglish. "We are very fortunate to have him.

"We look forward to many more happy days with him here because he's a fantastic footballer."

The boss added: "It's interesting - when big Andy plays half decent, nobody comes in and asks an Andy Carroll question!

"(He did) everything except score a goal. We couldn't have got much more out of the big fella today and we were delighted with him and for him."

On the performance as a whole, Dalglish felt the victory was warranted.

"I think we deserved three points although it was difficult at times," he reflected. "They put us under a bit of pressure in the first half but we went 2-0 up. They scored early in the second half which gave them a bit of momentum.

"Equally at the other end we hit the bar twice and there was an unbelievable save from Luis. Overall we deserved to win.

"If we'd (converted all our chances) there'd have been no one left in the stadium with 20 minutes to go! We maybe got a bit of good fortune with the first goal but we deserved a bit of luck - we've not had too much recently.

"We probably played better than that in one of the games we lost - against Stoke. We never had much luck that day.

"We probably played better there but we didn't half compete here. There are various attributes you need if you want to move forward and one of them is to compete properly. We certainly did that.

"Wolves deserve credit for the way they went about the game. Their last performance against QPR - I don't think Mick was too happy with that. Today was a total contrast to how they played against QPR."
