Award winning Film Director Brian Percival has revealed why he dedicated his Emmy to the 96.

The boyhood Liverpool fan picked up the gong for acclaimed BBC drama Downton Abbey which has also proved a big hit in the USA.

He picked up his award at a glittering ceremony in Los Angeles and dedicated the Emmy to the memory of 96 and their families.

Speaking on LFC TV's Friday Night Live, Percival said: "For any Liverpool fan and people from the city the fight for justice has gone on far too long and it's good that it has come back into the spotlight now.

"It's important to keep it in the spotlight, I had to mention it and hopefully it will do some good."

Overall Downton Abbey won four Emmy awards and for Pervical it is a memory he will treasure for the rest of his life.

"Downton Abbey has become a huge success and the Americans seem to love it as well so it was fantastic for us," he added.

"It was an incredible moment going up on stage and following award winner Martin Scorsese. I never thought I would go up on stage and follow someone like that."

His love of the Reds came from an early age and despite his busy schedule, he still follows the fortunes of King Kenny's side closely.

He said: "I have always been a Liverpool fan and try and go to the match as much as I can."
