Martin Kelly has shrugged off any doubts about his fitness and declared himself ready to help Liverpool record a fourth straight victory over Manchester United at Anfield.

The full-back was sent home from international duty with England U21s last week after feeling a tightness in his groin.

However, Kelly - along with the rest of his teammates - is once again fully fit and ready to tackle Alex Ferguson's side as the Reds attempt to cut the gap between the two teams to three points.

"I came back from the England squad as a precaution with a tight groin," he told Liverpoolfc.tv. "That's fine now and I trained on Monday, had Tuesday off and was back in on Wednesday.

"It's fine and I'm looking forward to what will be a really tough test for the team."

United will arrive at Anfield looking to preserve an unbeaten start to the 2011-12 Barclays Premier League table.

The Old Trafford side have tallied 19 points from their seven fixtures so far, netting 24 goals along the way.

But Liverpool head into the contest on the back of an impressive two-goal Merseyside derby victory over Everton at Goodison Park and Kelly feels if the Reds can replicate that sort of form come Saturday, then their chances of securing three points will be significantly bolstered.

"If we play how we've been playing at Anfield, do what we do best and play our football, we've got a great chance of winning. We know how good we are, we believe in ourselves and so do the fans.

"The fans will be vital on Saturday in getting behind us and being that 12th man.

"Everyone is really excited about the game. We'll carry on working on the training pitch and then look forward to the match."

He added: "A win against United is always fantastic and no matter what message it would send out, that's what we'll be looking to achieve.

"It's going to be a tough game, it's going to be really tight but if we put all the things we do in training into practice, we can win the game."

If selected, Kelly could be in direct opposition with Ashley Young.

The England winger has made a flying start to his United career following a summer switch from Aston Villa - but Liverpool's No.34 is ready to do all he can to try and quell the threat of the visitors.

Kelly said: "Everyone knows how good Ashley Young is, but at the end of the day he's just like any other footballer - he's only human.

"Of course, coming up against him will be tough, but it's not only Ashley Young - you're playing against 10 other world-class players too.

"There is top quality throughout their side and all you can do is give your all. That's all I've ever done for Liverpool and as long as the fans know on the pitch on Saturday I will try my best against him."

Kelly has only featured against United once in his 32 first-team appearances for Liverpool so far - a 1-0 FA Cup defeat at Old Trafford in January.

Despite the outcome, the match was memorable for the fact it was Kenny Dalglish's first game back in charge at the Anfield helm.

For Kelly, it was a first taste of the north-west derby - and it's something he's eager to experience again.

"It was when Glen was having a baby and I was put on the spot," he recalled.

"But walking out at Old Trafford with your Liverpool kit on, trying to show what you can do for Liverpool Football Club, was fantastic.

"Now I may have a chance of playing at Anfield. It's brilliant. Knowing the fans and the millions of people at home are on our side and hopefully we can get the result we want."
