Dalglish's United dilemma

For once the boss has a fully fit squad to choose from after all those in the treatment room recovered and every international player returned to Merseyside fit.

Dalglish said: "We don't have any problems with anyone on fitness, everyone's come through their international games without any injuries. The lads who've been here have trained all week. I don't think it's happened too many times in the past but there isn't anyone on the treatment table.

"We're in a fortunate position but a difficult one as well, but then you're better having more players to choose from than not enough. Every single one of them would be deserving of a spot but the more people there are to pick from, the more people are going to be upset!"

Every player in Dalglish's squad trained at Melwood today and were watched by one of the club's owners.

"We saw Tom (Werner)," said Dalglish. "Obviously we were training but he doesn't want to come along and interfere, he just wants to watch and be part of it.

"They are very respectful and they know their way around sports clubs. It's great to see them over here."

Meanwhile, ahead of Liverpool's clash with one of their fiercest rivals, Dalglish called for an end to abusive chanting in football.

"I don't think there is any place at any football ground for any set of football fans to be abusive in their chants," he said. "Everyone's got something that's hurt more than you would expect to be hurt going to a football match and I think we should all respect each other's misfortunes.

"Footballers expect to get a wee bit of stick. It's a different thing when it's banter but some of the abusive chanting goes too far.

"The game is much better for everybody if every team has respect for each other. The fans are there because they love their football club, and so they should, but we don't need abusive chants.

"The sooner it's cut out, the better it will be for everyone, and the more enjoyable the game will be for everyone."
