Ahead of Tuesday's friendly encounter with Rangers we caught up with former Ibrox favourite Charlie Adam on his return to Glasgow.

Liverpool's No.26 made his name under Paul Le Guen at Rangers and enjoyed some good times netting vital goals in Old Firm and Champions League matches.

Now as he prepares to face Ally McCoist's reigning champions with new club Liverpool - a match you can watch exclusively live on LFC TV Online, he tells us why it will be a memorable night for him.

How are you feeling about returning to Ibrox?

I'm looking forward to it. I was surprised when the friendly was announced but it's certainly one I'm looking forward to because it's not very often you get the opportunity to go back and play against your former club. Hopefully it will be a good game and we can get the right result which is important because winning breeds confidence. If we can win that it will give us a boost going into Saturday's game with Norwich.

It'll be the first time you've returned there since leaving in 2009, so how do you reflect on your time at Rangers?

Ups and downs really. I had some great times there but also some hard times and that was with not playing which was a difficult period. I'm glad I started there and the coaches I had over the years helped me to progress to where I am today. That's the way it goes sometimes and football changes so much nowadays.

What were the highlights of your time there?

Playing in the big games like the Old Firm matches, Champions League and UEFA Cup. Making my debut as a youngster was also a highlight. I've got some great memories from my time at Rangers. There are some wonderful people at the club so it will be good to see them again.

Do you still keep an eye out for their results? Do you still have any mates at the club?

I still have some people there I know. Obviously my brother Grant is there (with Rangers U19s) so that helps. I do keep a look out for their results but my main concern now is Liverpool. I want to do as well as I can for this club and try and win trophies and be successful.

Rangers are currently well clear at the top of the SPL - what sort of test can we expect from Ally McCoist's charges?

We will get a good test. They have got some good players, they are seven points clear at the top of the league but that can change at any time with the Old Firm. It's ups and downs all season but they have done well to get into the position they are in. I played in the game against Liverpool in 2008 when they won 4-0 in pre-season.

In terms of the fans of both clubs, what are the similarities and differences?

I think the passion. Both are top clubs but for me Liverpool is massive and is one of the biggest clubs in the world, the same as Rangers. It will be a good test, the fans will hopefully enjoy it and they will turn out in their numbers.

How do the two clubs compare? Obviously both have been very successful over the years. What are the differences between being a Rangers player and being a Liverpool player?

It's hard to say. Rangers obviously get 50,000 supporters for home games and the Liverpool fans are also so passionate and fanatical about their club. It is a real honour for me to be a Liverpool player, I wouldn't ever swap anything about being here and hopefully I can be here for a number of years and do really well for this club.

With no European football this season, what sort of benefits will we gain from this game?

It's a good opportunity for us to play someone different. We want to get back in the Champions League so this game will be a good test for us and different to the Barclays Premier League. We want to win and prepare well for Saturday's game with Norwich.
