Football rivalries were put to one side for three and a half emotional hours in the House of Commons last night for the first parliamentary debate over the Hillsborough disaster.

As the debate unfolded, stars from the world of football, politics and beyond were using Twitter to share their support for the families of those who lost their lives 22 years ago.

Here are a selection of tweets from what proved to be a truly historic night as MPs agreed to the full disclosure of all papers related to the disaster.

Even politics is a team game. Many thanks to all the MPs that spoke in that most moving of debates. Simply overwhelmed by response. Thanks.
Steve Rotheram MP
