'My best is yet to come'
Jordan Henderson insists his best is yet to come as he settles into life at Liverpool Football Club.
The England U21 captain has shown real glimpses of his potential during 11 appearances since his summer move from the Stadium of Light.
Most recently he set up our winning goal against Stoke in the Carling Cup with an inventive pass to Luis Suarez from the edge of the box.
"I think it's been a little bit up and down, if I'm honest," Henderson told Liverpoolfc.tv. "I haven't set the world alight but I haven't played badly either.
"In my mind I've got a lot more to offer, there's a lot more to come, but I've got to keep working hard on the training pitch and in games and I'm sure things will come off sooner or later."
While the 21-year-old played in front of vocal fans every week at Sunderland, he knows there is far more scrutiny of his performances now he wears a Liver bird on his chest.
"When you're at Liverpool there is always going to be expectancy and pressure when you play but that's part and parcel of football," said Henderson.
"It's how you deal with it. Some people do much better and some people crumble under pressure. To play for Liverpool you've got to have a lot of character about you.
"I like to play under pressure.
"I expected it to be a huge club with huge expectancy and that's exactly what it is. The players have been brilliant, the staff have been brilliant."
Henderson has had to occasionally settle for a place on the bench since being selected in the first XI for our opening six games.
He added: "That's part of football. I'm not going to lie, it does hurt, and I'm sure it hurts anyone who doesn't start, but it means you have to work even harder to get in the team, and it means you have to prove a point that you should be starting, so whenever my chance comes I have to take it and make sure I'm not on the bench very often."
