Craig Bellamy is hoping to continue his habit of scoring against former clubs in a red shirt when Manchester City visit Anfield on Sunday afternoon.

 

The Welsh international has already netted against former clubs Blackburn, Newcastle and Norwich during his two spells at Anfield.

Head to head (league only):

At Anfield: Liverpool 46 wins, Man City 13 wins, 16 draws.

Overall: Liverpool 75 wins, Man City 38 wins, 37 draws.

Last season both meetings led to 3-0 victories for the home side.

City won the first clash in Manchester with Gareth Barry opening the scoring after 13 minutes. Carlos Tevez added two in the second half, one from the penalty spot. It was the Reds' heaviest league defeat at City since 1936-37.

In the return at Anfield Andy Carroll scored twice, either side of a Dirk Kuyt strike with all the goals coming in the first 35 minutes.

The clubs have now met 150 times in the league with Liverpool winning exactly half of the games.

The Reds  have lost only three of the last 22 league meetings home and away between the sides, and just five of the last 37.

Since the inception of the Barclays Premier League, Liverpool have won 13 of the 28 meetings with City winning four.

Liverpool have scored in each of the last 17 league clashes at Anfield - the last scoreless draw came in August 1986.

The Reds have lost only one of the last 12 clashes - last season - and have kept eight clean sheets in the process.

Liverpool's biggest win against City at Anfield came in October 1995 when they won 6-0.

The Reds have suffered home league defeats to City at Anfield on only two occasions in the last 38 league meetings.

Liverpool have never had a player sent off against City in the Premier League.

The last Liverpool player to score a hat-trick against City was Michael Owen in September 2002 at Maine Road.

The last to hit a hat-trick at Anfield against today's opponents was Kenny Dalglish in December 1982. He scored three in a 5-2 win. He is the only Liverpool player to score two hat-tricks against City.

Five of the last nine league meetings home and away have ended in draws.

Liverpool have drawn their last three league games at Anfield. The last time they played out four in a row on home soil in the league was in January 1971. The fourth in the sequence? A goalless draw with Manchester City.

Liverpool are unbeaten in the last nine games in league and cup - their longest run since going 16 without losing from November 2008 to February 2009.

Andy Carroll's first goals for Liverpool came in this fixture last season and are the only ones he has netted at Anfield in a red shirt.

Maxi has now scored eight goals in his last five league starts.

Dirk Kuyt has been waiting to score his 50th league goal for the club since May.

The Reds have conceded just two first half goals in the league this season while in the last nine games in all competitions they have not conceded before the 44th minute.

In those nine games they have conceded just six goals with no team scoring more than once.

The two teams (along with Newcastle) went into this weekend's fixtures with the meanest top-flight defence - all leaking just 11 goals so far.

Manchester City have scored 23 goals in six away league games this season - almost twice as many as any other top-flight team, with nine different players finding the net on the road.

In all City league games on the road this season 31 goals in total have been scored.

After winning nine games in a row City lost 2-1 at Napoli in midweek in the Champions League. In those last 10 games they have scored 34 goals.

They are looking to avoid back to back defeats having last lost twice in succession almost 13 months ago - beaten by Arsenal, Wolves and Lech Poznan.

In their last six league games City have scored a staggering 23 goals.

They have amassed 42 goals in the opening 12 league games. The Premier League record in a full season is held by Chelsea - 103 in 2009-10.

City have failed to score in just one of their 20 games in all competitions this season - at Bayern in the Champions League two months ago.

They have now equalled the top-flight record of 11 wins and a draw from the first dozen games of a campaign - a record shared by Tottenham (1960-61), Manchester United (1985-86) and Liverpool in 1990-91.
