Lucas Leiva is receiving plenty of plaudits for his performance in the 1-1 draw with Manchester City on Sunday - and our stats illustrate why.

Lucas and Daniel Agger both triumphed in 100 per cent of their tackles.

Lucas also won far more duels than any other midfielder on 81.3 per cent.

And the Brazilian had most touches for Liverpool with 91. Jose Enrique was next on 88. For City, Gareth Barry was involved most with 93 touches.

Joleon Lescott was the most accurate defender when it came to passing the ball. 92.7 per cent of his kicks reached their destination. Martin Skrtel came out on top among our back four with 85.7 per cent.

In midfield, Yaya Toure and Lucas both made 75 passes and both had a completion rate of 92 per cent.

Charlie Adam, meanwhile, was the most ambitious midfielder, playing it 'long' with 23.2 per cent of his passes.

Of all the forwards who started the game, Luis Suarez had the best pass accuracy with 81.6 per cent.

Liverpool had 17 shots (six on target) to Manchester City's seven (three on target).

Fourteen of Liverpool's efforts were from inside the box - City's figure here was four.

The home side enjoyed 51.3 per cent of possession.

They also prevailed in the physical battle - winning 56.7 per cent of duels and 61.9 per cent of aerial tussles.

The pass count was Liverpool 502-489 Manchester City. The visitors were slightly more accurate with the ball, finding a teammate on 85.1 per cent of occasions to Liverpool's 81.1 per cent.

Downing and co centred 35 crosses in total compared with City's 13.

Roberto Mancini's rearguard had to make a whopping 36 clearances - 13 of which were executed by the impressive Vincent Kompany.
