Liverpool Football Club and the Football is More Foundation have joined together for a very special partnership, and to mark the occasion Managing Director Ian Ayre signed a Memorandum of Understanding.

Together with Hanspeter Rothmund, Chief Executive of the Football is More Foundation, the pair signed the Memorandum of Understanding on Sunday.

The following day Hanspeter led a delegation from the Football is More Foundation to pay a special visit to Anfield Community Centre for a glimpse of the outstanding work carried out by Liverpool Football Club's award winning community team.

Led by LFC's Community Manager and Club Chaplain Bill Bygroves, the team gave a demonstration of three areas they are heavily involved in which make a big difference to people's lives.

The team started with a Truth4Youth Assembly which teaches children from schools in the area important social and awareness skills, and this was followed by a Blind football disability awareness session and a wheelchair disability coaching session.

Liverpool FC Managing Director Ian Ayre, who took part in the session by taking a penalty blindfolded, said: "We signed the Memorandum of Understanding with the Football is More project and they are an important partner for us because they are very much an international organisation, and the programmes and events they run are fundamental to what we are trying to achieve.

"It's great to have them over here and see the different projects we do.

"Everyone who supports Liverpool Football Club think of the players as the stars but Bill and the community coaches are absolutely fantastic and they really do the club proud every day.

"We take these programmes all around the world and it's great to see the difference it makes to their lives.

"This is very real the messages that the coaches send out to the kids because all of them have their own story and background that fits into the programme. It's a testament to them that they are prepared to share their own personal experiences."

Hanspeter Rothmund, Chief Executive of the Football is More Foundation said: "This has been a special weekend for us. Our slogan is 'together we are strong' and Liverpool is the Number one club for us and we are very proud to work with them.

"It's fantastic to see how much good work is going on off the pitch and it was great to see how well the kids respond to the important messages."

LFC Community Manager and club chaplain Bill Bygroves added: "We started with the Truth4Youth assembly which is so important for the children, then we had a blind awareness session and the wheelchair session which is part of our Respect For All programme.

"We have worked with the Football Is More project for a number of years now and it's good to share ideas and to learn from one another."

LFC Disability Liaison Officer Colin McCall added: "It's been a momentous weekend with our Managing Director Ian Ayre signing the Memorandum of Understanding between Liverpool Football Club and Football is More, because we share common goals and common names and working together we will be stronger."
