Bid for LFC signed shirts now
Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard made a special presentation for the Poppy Appeal at Melwood last week which will raise much needed funds for the Royal British Legion.
The Reds skipper handed over shirts the team proudly wore during the Anfield meeting with Swansea City on November 5, and they are now available to bid for on ebay.
Gerrard said: "It was an honour for the lads to wear the poppy on our home shirts and donate them to the Royal British Legion to raise funds for the Poppy Appeal.
"We'd like to thank all of our fans in the armed forces for the amazing work they do."
Bill Martin, County Secretary from the Merseyside Royal British Legion said: "It was great to meet Steven, and being a red myself it was the first captain of Liverpool Football Club I have met.
"It's the third year in a row that the Liverpool team have worn these special shirts and they always offer superb support to the Poppy Appeal and the RBL and the soliders and people serving out in Afghanistan.
"Last year the shirts that we were given from the Chelsea game raised over £6,000 for the appeal so it's well needed and greatly appreciated.
"Over the last year the people of Merseyside have generated over £800,000 so it's absolutely fantastic."
